My father served in Vietnam, and has a remarkably good outlook on things, considering. He always talks about having real Thai food in Vietnam with a family who hosted his group while he was there. Talks about areas that he was stationed and how beautiful it was, there. Mentioned a few firefights he was in, especailly one where he was awarded a Medal of Valor. But always in very good terms. He's even mentioned that he'd like to go back and visit one day.

I learned something about him today, and his time in Vietnam. He wouldn't tell me dfirectly, told me to go read a letter.

I know now, that if that happened to me - I would most likely be dead of a gunshot wound to the mouth...the fact that he's alive to this day speaks volumes. The fact that he wants to go back to visit is unbelievable.

I have a new respect for my dad, today.

A thing that made me happy: Erin came over to visit. We had a long talk together, and some food. Ye gods, I've missed her.

A thing that took my breath away: The view of San Antonio on a clear day from a beautiful vantage point.

A thing that made me smile: Deener made it to State College and is surrounded by friends.

A thing that made me proud: My father "told" me today of a terrible thing he had to deal with.

A thing that sickened me: My mother saying she was the reason he hadn't gone insane. And not joking.

A thing that saddened me: My security deposit check was only $60.

A thing to remember: Today.
