SATURDAY
Gwen and I have been talking Tiki for a while now. I'm not as into it as she is, but I'm always up for trying new things, so I decided to hit Austin's Hula Hut, along side Dean and Jill. It's a nice little place, where you can eat insde the restaurant, our on a deck, or along a pier, right on top of Lake Austin. It was an incredibly long wait with really good salsa, but once we got a table, the food was good, the company better, and...well...there should be a third thing here, but damned if I can think of it, It was a lot of fun. The decor is alittle more Acapulco that Polynesia. butI think Gwen'll like it if/when she comes down.
As we were leaving, we ambled past a bakery, decided it smelled good, and stopped in for cookies and another two hours of fun. Alas, no cinnamon rolls.
From there, we all went our seperate ways, and I took a nice long scenic drive along Lake Austin.
I really enjoyed myself that day...I don't often get a chance to go out because of my hours, and even less with friends. But when it happens, it's always a good time.
And I'm glad I got the good in while I could, cause Sunday Kicked In:
SUNDAY
I woke up, got some lunch, and sat down to watch the new episode of Doctor Who. Now THIS is what the 1996 movie should have been. It's a bit on the campy side, sure, but otherwise is really really excellent. I didn't think I'd like Christ Ecceletson's Doctor, but he didn't really "grow on me" as he grabbed me and took me along for the ride as soon as he was on screen. I'm looking forward to more. BRING ON THE DALEKS!
I did notice a specific problem though. As the episode went on, the more out of synch the sound went. This isn'tuneheard of but eventually, the video slowed to a crawl. So I tried a different video file. That one didn't play either and eventually, all video stopped playing alltogether. So I deleted the video codec, popped it back in, and it still wouldn't play. Popped it out again, tried playing without the codec, and it STILL PLAYED. I looked back in my codec list, and it had popped back in. I deleted it again, and popped back. So I deleted the darned file off my list. When I did that, my computer went ::BLINK:: and any attempts to reboot got me a BSOD.
Alas, I had lost everything I was working on (includng comics) and I spent all of Suday and Monday getting everything back together again.
TUESDAY
The Coalition to Move Jenn to Seattle has gained a major player.
The Society for the Relocation to San Francisco remains resolute in their stance.
The Keep Jenn in Austin Foundation remains oddly quiet. :)
I did manage to keep to my diet today, although I blew it at the end. I really really really need to stop doign that.
