One of the things I really wanted out of this pandemic was the return of the Automat. Lissa and had an awesome talk about this at the start of the pandemic as a way to keep restaurant cooks and customers away from each other.

For those who don't know what an automat is, it's an old-school food vending restaurant where food was cooked in a kitchen, placed in a cold/warm cubby hole, and you paid with coins to unlock the door, and get your food out.

Imagine now, you wouldn't even need coins, when you could use an app to pay, and even auto open the door for you. You don't have contact with the cooks, the cooks have no contact with the customers. And cleanup/bussing is done after you leave (or, better, leave the dishes on the way out).

You know, I'm still unemployed. I have a decent amount of savings. Could happen. Not like I'm doing anything tomorrow....

Was watching a streamer go through Duolingo to learn English and noticed I had picked up a lot of their Japanese. Decided to finally give it a try.

According to my first Duolingo lesson, my Japanese is...yikes. I basically have hiragana and katakana down, with a few Kanji memorized from when I was trying to learn Chinese. But not any real conversational skills that aren't memorized phrases.

My Spanish, though, was good enough to skip pretty deep past the first 25 lessons. My Spanish isn't half bad, even if I can't speak in the past. Yo intiendo espan~ol, pero quando necesito hablar, I tend to plotz.

I've got the time. Let's see if we can fix this.

Didn't even try the Chinese, which I only know a smattering of, and really only reading the ideograms.

Body: "No. Nononono. Please no. I'm still achey from Monday."
Brain: "Up and at 'em. LEt's move."
Body: "PLEASE NO. DID YOU CHECK THE RADAR? CHECK THE WEATHER RADAR."
Brain: "Light rain coming, damn."
Body: "YES!"
