Actually, it's not.

*Northern* California, especially the Bay area *tends* to be that way. On the other hand, I've got friends who used to live in Orange County and described it as Conservative Christian Central.

Sounds like Red Rock, Texas. Austin is lovely liberal lefty wonderland (which is why I moved here). Yet only 20 miles away is Red Rock, where the Confederacy never ended.
