That whole sordid mess was an embarrassment to the Womens' movement from the beginning. I don't know why they stuck with it. Who are they to say that transwomen can't be raped, or don't experience it the same way? Rape is rape, no matter what the victim keeps in their pants. Counseling is counseling and compassion is compassion no matter who gives it. Are they so rich in volunteers that they can turn down someone who WANTS to do such a soul-crushing job? They demonstrated both their ignorance and intolerance. They are no better than the men they profess such disdain for. In fact, I might go so far as to say that their hypocrisy is worse.

Its' a phyrric victory anyway, because the centre lost their entire budget in the first settlement. All they managed was to shut themselves down and tarnish their reputation so now they can't do anyone any good.

Yeah Jenn, it's not all roses and pink triangles up here, but most of the time our bigots don't get this far without having to run a gauntlet of poor public opinion first. There's still lots that needs doing.

True, true. I guess Canada can't be perfect, and if it takes that much effort fior the bigots to win, then they're still lightyears ahead of Texas, or the US for that matter....

They can still appeal to the supreme court of canada. This was just the provincial (ie, state level) court.

Or at least that's how I think it works.

That entire story is a mess anyways. And this isn't the only case of the judicial system allowing discrimination, there is also the womens right to use the mens private lounge at some dumb golf club that was also making news and ALSO in BC.

Alberta is the equivilent of Texas in canada... And Quebec is Florida. hehe.
