In a day that couldn't get much worse, I came home to find my computer off. My computer never ever is turned off, except at night. When I tried to power it n, nothing. After removing everything on the system, it still won't power on. Computers dead. This means all I have is a buggy iMac that freezes every few minutes and my cell phone. I have no money to buy a new one, or even components for one any time soon. Comics are on hiatus until I get a new PC, which could be a few months at this rate.
I've had a really really really bad day. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to bash my head against the wall.
10 to 1 this freezes when I post it.

Date: 2007-04-19 04:59 am (UTC)But what worked for mine, even after multiple reboots and pulling reseating just about everything, was to unplug the case and hold in the power button for 20 seconds to fully discharge the resident CMOS charge (which was holding in the case/power supply even while I was working on everything else), then replug and reboot. I'm sure you've probably already tried it, but it's what I was dealing with recently with the "coming home, compy is suddenly off and won't even post beep, WTF?" scenario.

Date: 2007-04-19 05:44 am (UTC)The PC issue, though, yeah I've done that. When I worked at Dell we called it "clearing the NVRam." Nah, the system is dead. I do have enough for an "upgrade" but I'll be very unhappy with it. It'll work...but it's cheap. :P
